I've fallen behind again. Between haphazardly planning (and by that I mean not really planning at all) a spur-of-the-moment camping trip to Anza Borrego this weekend, doing loads of western blots, and the fact that I fly back to the East Coast for 10 days next week, well, you get the picture.
No pun intended.
I can't believe this project is almost over. I'm going to have to think on that one...

I can't believe you're so biased: what about doing some eastern blots? It's quite insensitive of you, I think.
ReplyDeleteYou picked the one direction of blot that doesn't actually exist - Southern blots and northern blots are both real things.
ReplyDeleteThere's a terrible joke in how those were all named. Southern was the last name of the person who developed the first one, which detects DNA. When they developed a similar technique for RNA, they jokingly called it a northern blot. And then for proteins, western blot. We scientists are pretty hilarious.
