The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2008
Everyone at UCSD knew this one was coming. Roger is an incredibly intelligent person. I've seen him basically sleep through entire seminars, only to wake up at the end and ask the most brilliant questions. He's done a heck of a lot of great work with fluorescent tags for proteins, and we're lucky to have him around campus.
