After regrettably missing John Meeks and The Donkeys at the Luce Loft last Thursday night (we had band practice), and then playing a full set with Swim Party Friday night, it was time to settle into a beanbag chair and watch The Silent Comedy's stripped down, acoustic set.
By the way, it's really hard to sit non-awkwardly on a beanbag chair in a dress. Life lesson learned.
This set was just gorgeous. In full band mode, the guys are quite raucous, but in this setting, everything came across as perfectly delicate.
The highlight, as always, was "Gasoline" - complete with audience participation including clapping and sing-alongs. I think everyone in the audience was turned into an unabashed fan at that point, and I just wish the song could have gone on forever. Hell, I wish the entire set could have gone on forever.
PS - If you're interested in seeing photos and/or reading a review of Swim Party's set that night, Michael posted his photos and thoughts here.
